Admissions Policies

UCHA admits only persons who have a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED). There are no age limitations. The following additional criteria are considered: 

  1. Students need life experiences, which blend well with Bodywork Therapies. Current and past work experiences should reflect strict adherence to high ethical standards.

  2. Students should demonstrate a commitment to community service and/or involvement with the health and welfare of others.  

  3. Students need to articulate their own learning goals and practice reflective thinking skills. Students should demonstrate that they could participate in academically and socially in the program. 

  4. Students must have the ability to read, write, and speak English.

  5. Students must possess the ability to work in a cooperative/group environment. 

  6. Students must have the emotional awareness to receive and give feedback.

  7. Students must demonstrate respect for diversity.

  8. Students must possess an open mind toward exploring new ideas about holistic health (i.e., mind, body, and spirit). 

  9. Students must be able to commit themselves to the values and policies of the program. 

  10. Students must demonstrate the potential for job-readiness in the field of Bodywork Therapies. 

  11. Students who have not received a professional massage will be required to do so for the Massage Therapy program. 

  12. Students must be conversant with word processing and e-mail and have access to the Internet, as well as the ability to attend the intensives at the school as outlined in the program schedule. 

  13. Specific to the Hellerwork Structural Integration Practitioner Program ONLY the Student: a) must be 21 years of age or older. (and/or have life experiences that enhance emotional and physical maturity.) b) Complete, as a client, at least 3 Hellerwork Structural Integration sessions prior to an admission interview. (Consult Hellerwork Admissions Team Member if no Hellerwork SI Practitioner is available) c) Complete full Hellerwork SI Series by the beginning of the second intensive.

UCHA reserves the right to evaluate the applications for admission and to refuse admission to applicants. A student is required to consult with their primary health care provider and receive medical clearance in writing before participating in the program. The school may request medical clearance in writing at any time.
